BKNYLabs

About - A Brooklyn studio, building software since 2001.

Patient, careful work for the organizations that don't fit the usual playbook — schools, nonprofits, museums, publishers, and a growing roster of mission-driven clients across New York and beyond.

The Story

The plans for BKNY Labs were forged in the early days of the Internet. Russell DeLaCour has been developing websites and interactive solutions for three decades here in Brooklyn — CMS-driven sites and custom software for educational institutions, nonprofits, museums, design firms, and the kinds of serious organizations doing big work in their corner of the world.

Three decades in, the practice grew into something bigger. The same patterns kept showing up: nonprofits needing operational platforms, publishers needing smarter search, the next generation needing to understand how markets actually work. BKNY Labs is what happens when those patterns become products — a studio shipping software under its own name, and still taking on the bespoke client work that started everything.

How We Work

You talk to the people writing the code. No account managers, no offshore handoffs, no team you'll never meet. Every project starts with understanding the work — your operations, your team, your goals — and ends with software shaped to fit it.

We build to last. The sites and platforms we ship are still running five, ten, fifteen years later — because we treat the long-term as the actual project, not the launch.

Tell us about your project.
